Will chair rail molding come back into style or is it so out that it should be removed?
This would involve 3 rooms and a hall so it is not a small project. Right now it is painted to pretty much blend in witht he walls. There is also ceiling molding and even dental molding in the foyer. What do you think?

A friend of mine put up a 6 inch border around the top of her room and then used the same border as a chair rail effect. When you walk in the room all you notice is her rooster border. In my opinion I feel it should be on one or the other, not both. It totally took away from the whole look of the room. This answer is going to be used to settle a debate. This is a dinning room w a country theme of roosters.

It is not a formal room, but I need to chair rail to add character and separate two complimenting colors. Do I need to add crown molding to the ceiling? I didn't think I needed too but the more research I do online about doing the chair rail project, the more I see that it always accompanies the crown molding. What do you think?It is a pretty plain living room with one large window. It is not a large space, like 15'x15'. You are suggesting I could just put corner pieces in to add to it? I'm looking to re decorate my bedroom. My goal is to create a room that is simple yet elegant. My bedroom has a chair rail that I thought about painting white but everything else in the room is wood floor, base, door, furniture so I will probably just leave as is.
