When finish carpenters use nail guns to install trim and molding in houses, do they ever accidentally shoot nails into live electrical wires? Suppose the wire goes " POP" , lets out sparks, and the power on the circuit goes out. What do they do when this happens? What if it's an existing home where the homeowner simply wanted to re decorate and install new trim, rather than a new home under construction?
Removing Paint from Wood Moulding and Trim?
My house was built in the early 1900s and still has the original dark wood on the fireplace and some of the windows. Unfortunately the last owner painted all of the baseboards and other trim moulding work in the house. I just used some sand paper to check the rest of the woodwork and it is all the original dark wood as the fireplace. We want to remove the paint and just have the wood finish.How can we remove paint without damaging the wood and what will I need to do to refinish the wood once the paint is gone? Thanks for any info
Is it normal for moulding and trim to last a lifetime or does it have to be replaced eventually?
