How long does it take to purge air from the lines of a side-by-side refrigerator water dispenser?
We just installed a whirlpool fridge with a water dispenser in the door and we did the whole purging thing 5 seconds on, 5 off until the water came out. I know you are supposed to do this for about 5 more minutes after you get a somewhat consistent stream of water longer in some households , but my concern is until all of the air is purged, does the stream of water have an extremely low pressure? Does the pressure get higher when you are done? if not, how are you supposed to tell when all the air is purged? i have done quite a bit of the on off process and I would really like to know when to stop. Thanks.
Should I repair or replace my 9 and 1/2 year old Amana side by side refrigerator?
It has a problem with the ice in the ice maker overflowing, plus a build up of a sheet of ice behind the ice maker. I defrost it and get rid of the sheet of excessive ice on the panel behind the ice maker, then it just builds up again in a week or two. Plus the ice dispenser never worked properly. We would have to open the freezer and dig out the ice cubes from the ice tub ourselves. The ice auger would freeze up and not dispense the ice through the door. Also the gaskets on the doors need replacing. I am not sure what the energy use is But since it is almost 10 years old I figure the energy use on a newer model must be somewhat better? IDK? I paid around 1,200 for it in Dec 2002. I figure I could get another side by side refrigerator at a scratch and dent place for maybe 600 dollars or so? Plus taxes and installation would bring it somewhere in the 800 to 900 range?What is the life of these side by side refrigerators anyway? Is 10 plus years about time to start thinking about getting a new one. Or should I try to squeeze a few more years out of it and maybe get it repaired? Thanks.
GE Profile side-by-side refrigerator and freezer stopped working, not even 5 years old?
Yesterday, we noticed that our GE Profile fridge model PSS26MSTD SS was freezing the vegetables in the crisper drawer and the water dispenser was not working. The water in the reserve had frozen. The fridge temp read 45, even though it was set to 39. I read that someone else had this issue and reset it to the recommended settings fridge 37 and freezer 0. So that's what we did. The water melted, however the fridge and freezer temps began climbing. We unplugged the fridge for 30 seconds and plugged it back in. The fridge temp read 53 and the freezer 0. I hit the Turbo Cool button and an hour later, the temp read 52. We thought the problem was resolved and we just needed to wait for it to return to normal temp.This morning we found the veggies frozen again. Fridge temp was 47, freezer temp was now 3 and no ice was made even though ice was ON and set to Quick Ice . Items on the top freezer shelf were melting. The temp on both sides has been rising steadily all day.We also cleaned around the back and underneath the fridge yesterday, but that does not seem to have helped.Any suggestions on what this could be? We are very frustrated. Our GE Profile oven just broke and now the fridge. The appliances are less than 5 years old. I will not be buying GE appliances again.
GE side by side refrigerator not making ice and light is blinking green?
The water dispenses on the outside but does not make ice my landlord says maybe it's the filter but I don't know the first thing about changing a refrigerator filter. Any knowledgeable help is welcomed
Is my thermostat bad in my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator?
I noticed that the fridge was warm and the freezer ice was melting. So, I tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps to try to get it working. I got it working again and everything started working the way it should. However, the compressor won't kick on after it shuts off unless I turn the control knob to off and then back to 4 or 5. When I do this, then it will cool normally until it shuts off.The model number is ED5HHEXTL00.It's only about 4 years old.Yes I tried cleaning under and around it.I will check after it runs for a while to see if it gets hot.
The freezer part of my Samsung RS2630SH Side by Side Refrigerator does not work at all. Any advice?
