Can I convert free-standing range to slide-in?
My landlord installed a free standing range where there used to be a slide in. Now, the back of the range extends about 1 foot from the counter top on a peninsula in other words, NOT against a wall . I've looked carefully at the range and there seems to be no function of the " backsplash" other than making it a free standing range the controls are between the stove and oven and no wires are running through the back . But if it's removed, then there's a huge, ugly gap between the back of the range and the beginning of the counter about 3 or 4 inches .So I guess my question is two fold 1. Will removing the " backsplash" cause any performance problems to the stove and or range?2. Can a regular fill kit be used to fix the gap issue? It is an electric range If the backsplash weren't on it, it could slide back about 1 or 2 more inches, theoretically. However, the overhang that should be on the counter has been cut back to accomodate a previous replacement stove. Yes, it's cheap. Can't figure out how to post pictures yet may be because I'm new to Answers. Just email me if you'd like them. coupons4mmm yahoo And, my landlord is in the know about this... He's actually the one planning it. I'm more worried that he's going to use pieces of Formica countertop to cover the gaps instead of something metal that won't catch on fire.

Free Standing Range guards?
I have a free standing range in my new kitchen. The counter edges are right next to the stove but not touching. I've heard there is a product that I can buy that I can place inside the gap so food and stuff don't fall into the crack. My wife is currently using foil. Does anyone know where I can find this product or what they are called? I've searched but have been unsuccessful.Aloha and Mahalo
I have a free-standing range that sits between 2 cabinets (with tile counters). Can I install a slide-in?
Will it be easy to install a slide in range in place of the free standing? Will I need to purchase additional hardware? I do not care about esthetics and I really don't care if there is a visible gap anywhere, because the slide in will be a temporary fix until I have a gas line installed only have electric currently and old electric range died .
Do people prefer built-in kitchen cooking appliances or a free-standing range?
Some kitchens have a built in oven and a separate cooktop, while others have a free standing range. Which do people prefer, if they had a choice? I know for a fact that separate built ins are much more expensive.
