im using brinks home security light set up in my room im using it for a lamp in my room i just like building things from whats lying around the house but any ways my problem is that im not using a switch and im using a cord to plug it into a extension outlet so i can use the switch on there as the switch to turn the light off and on but the lights wont come on any sugestions???also i screwed the cover on to the lens so it will stay on all the time as if its night time even if i have other lights on in the room i just dont get why it wont come on do you think disconnecting the light sensors all together would help its only 5 wires total it cant many things
Electrical home security wires in attic?
I have a home security system that i no longer use. the power went out today and now the alarm keeps arming itself and setting off the siren in the attic. i went and disconnected all the wiring in the master box and wrapped it with electrical tape so the wires are not exposed... My question is when i disconnected everything the battery included the siren still would sound when someone opened the door. I went up in the attic and disconnected the siren and the wire had 2 prongs that connect to the siren with rubber surrounding the connectors. should i have wrapped the connectors or is it ok being protected by the rubber covers around the prongs... i just want to make sure there is not a spark... is the wiring live when siren becomes activated that may cause a spark?
How to reset and reuse my home security alarm.?
we bought a house and it has an alarm system already in it, obviously non active but its a ademco type and the corresponding alarm company is ADT. it has door magnets and a motion sensor and the whole package. now i want to reset the alarm fresh and just use it. not for monitoring. but its a nice feature. do i need a technician and i dont want to use an ADT technician obviously they will charge or lock up my system via single. thankyou

I went to Lowe's and saw they had a GE security system. Is there something else out there? Anything anyone would recommend for a DIY security system?

I have done this a handful of times in the past & they always called & I would give them my password & tell them everything was fine. But this time I got no phone call at all & no one came Do you think it is reasonable to ask for a month of payment to be credited? What should I do? This is not at all comforting especially bc there are children in the house.
