Will adding granite counter tops in the kitchen increase the value of my attached townhouse?
My boyfriend and I just bought a new townhouse in a highly sought after golf course community suburb and we're trying to decide what upgrades to put in it. Laminate counter tops are included in the original price, but if we decide to upgrade to granite we are going to just get the laminate first and buy granite from a family friend and install it later at cost rather then pay the insane markup price builders charge for granite. Is this worth the extra money or should we just stick with the new laminate that is offered by the builder? Is it worth putting in granite counter tops in a townhouse or will it deter buyers in our price range?

I would like to make it bright and colorful. It's a very small kitchen, 5X8. The cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. The kitchen is mostly cabinets. Only a narrow strip of wall, under top cabinets.

The counter top has a cream white background with hints of brown and black speckles. The cabinets are a cinnamon maple and the flour is composed of black granite tiles. Wall colour is a modern blue. If anyone has some suggestions I could really use them. I has tried and tested a ton of samples.

The apartment complex fixed our counter tops sprayed the granite looking paint and put a shiny lacquer on top. Problem the over spray from the lacquer got on my dishes. They were in a top cupboard so I thought they were safe. The over spray sneaked in through the crack between the cupboard doors and got on my dishes. These guys didn't take the counter tops off and spray them outside. Typical. Anyways, I need to know what this lacquer is. It is mostly on dishes I would bake in the oven with. I am afraid that it is toxic and don't want to bake anything in the oven with it. Can anyone help?

So my last room mate stained my 2nd bathroom so bad with who knows what.. There are nasty black rings from some soap she used in the bath tub and the counter tops have rust stains. I've tried scrubbing both with bleach, but its just barely fading it. I really need to get rid of these stains or else I'll end up losing my security deposite. Please help..
