How long does it take to remove an old toilet and replace it with a new?
We're throwing around ideas for replacing the old, conventional toilets with low flow toilets at school, and also bringing in low flow urinals. Not all of them have to replaced, but just bringing in 50 or so new appliances could save thousands of gallons a year. What we have to find out is how difficult it is to install new toilets and take out the old. How long does it take to change out one toilet? Could we have parents do this? I know my dad installed our toilet by himself, but can we trust parent volunteers to do this? Any help in answering these questions would be appreciated
Turning old toilets into planters?
I want to use old toilets as planters, with flowers in the tank and bowl. I have two and am thinking about putting them both flanking my front door. Is this a good idea? Has anyone done this before? More importantly, do you think this will make me look like a trashy person?I just think it's great not to let them go to waste. I want to reuse things whenever possible.
How can I remove my old toilet seat?
I have had the same seat for 4 years....my landlord installed this one brand new when I moved in. But since it's a wooden seat, it has cracked and I bought a new replacement. The only problem is I can't remove the old seat, because the hinge screws are so rusted or corroded. I don't know what to do I'm afraid to use much force because I don't want to crack the bowl.I think I worded that all wrong. I can't even turn the screws because the grooves are so rusted, the screwdriver just crumbled them. ??? Does that make sense?Once I realized the BOLTS are accessible LOL I got the vice grips on them, but they're still not budging. I will let the WD 40 soak on them until I get back from class...hopefully that will help. Thanks for your advice everyone

Will people pay money for older toilets?
I was going to buy a new more " efficient" toilet for my house and a friend told me that people will pay decent money for the old school large tank toilets. Is this true and if so how much should I sell it for? I'd have to guess that the toilet is from the 70's and blue. haha
Do older toilets save more water than modern toilets?
I moved into a house with a really old toilet. There was a problem inside the tank and I figured why not just buy a brand new one? However, my sister decided to have it fixed by a plumber which cost us $250. A brand new toilet would've ran about $110 which I was going to install myself. After the plumber fixed the assembly inside the tank, he told my sister that we have a really good toilet here, and to never replace it since it uses less water than newer toilets. Was he right? Do older toilets have the potential to save more water than modern toilets?
